UK Tamilnadu Business Meet 2014

UK Tamilnadu Business Meet 2014 held at the British Parliament Building on the 8th of May 2014.

May 8th, 2014; London: Following the successful hosting of the UK South India Business Meet, UK Karnataka Business Meet, UK Kerala Business Meet and various other state Business Meets at the Houses of Parliament over the years, BSICC, in partnership with UKTNCC, organised the UK Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Business Meet 2014 on 8th May 2014 at Houses of Parliament, Westminster, London. This business meet was chaired by Mr Virendra Sharma MP( Southall, UK). The audience included representatives from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Members of House of Lords & House of Commons, representatives from other Indian states/ other countries and businessmen from India who are successful in UK. One of the notable attendees for the business meet was Mr.Bharat Joshi, British Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai, who was also the Chief Guest of the day.

The event started with a formal welcome by BSICC Patron Mr.Virendra Sharma MP, Ealing Southall. This was followed by a brief overview of UK Tamil Nadu & Puducherry Business Meet by Mr.Jacob Ravibalan, BSICC Vice Chair for Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and Founder of UKTNCC. Mr.Bharat Joshi, British Deputy High Commissioner based in Chennai, spoke about the historical relationship which UK and Tamil Nadu. Following this, Mr. Hasmukh Vora, President of Hindustan Chamber of Commerce, based out of Chennai,offered his perspective of pursuing business activities in Tamil Nadu & Puducherry. Mr. Christie Cherian, who is the Chairman and Trustee of British Business Group, Chennai, spoke about how good an investment destination is Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

Dr. R. Seetharaman who is the Group ChiefExecutive Officer of Doha Bank in Qatar gave a detailed talk about some of the Opportunities for UK residents and Global Tamilians in the Gulf. Mr.David Happy, who was till recently the Vice President EU Affairs for Samsung Electronics, spoke about India UK collaborations and how the UK is a hugely effective springboard into the rest of the EU-27 for Indian companies and twice as big as the USA and a wealthy region. Mr. Velou SingaraofUKTNCC spoke about various business opportunitiesin Puducherry for UK companies. Mrs Kamala Sekar who was till recently the Head of Export Finance at UKTI spoke about the channels of support from UK public sector and BSICC/ UKTNCC. UKTNCCFounder Director Mr. Sundar Subbiah offered the strategy and roadmap for UKTNCC. Co Founder / Director of UKTNCC Siv Matchendran thanked the chief guests and the delegates.

Mr. Karthik Durgaprasad Founder of UKTNCC gave more details about the business meet " The business meet was a huge success and we had participation of more than 150 delegates from Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, United Kingdom and Middle East participating in the meet. Following the business meet, we are hopeful that few UK based companies will start exploring opportunities to invest in Tamil Nadu and Puducherrry.

UK - South India Business Information meeting on 24th May 2013

This event organised by British South India Chamber of Commerce (BSICC) and UK Tamilnadu Chamber of Commerce (UKTNCC) an organisation promoting business between UK and South India at Venue: Sree Narayana Guru Mission, 16 Barking Road, London E6 3BP on 24th May 2013 between 11am to 12.30.pm. The British Deputy High Commissioner for Chennai, Mr Mike Nithavrianakis was the key note speaker for this event. Mr Sug Sahadevan, CEO of Test house, gave welcome address and did the presentation on the overview of the current business strategy in South India and UK. He also spoke about business opportunities in Kerala and Tamilnadu.

Honorary Mr Stephen Timms, MP for East Ham, UK welcomed the chief guest and spoke about the economic growth, new entrepreneurships, and new investment options in south India and UK.

Mr Mike Nithavrianakis the chief guest and a key note speaker gave the speech right after Mr Stephen Timms. He spoke about the how to explore the business possibilities and growth in Hospitality, Tourism, health services & education and IT services in Indian market. He mentioned that Chennai is one of the fastest growing economy in south India. He mentioned that India is the 3rd largest country investing in UK and he has invited more distributors, local partners, Entrepreneurs and investors and all business to invest now in south India. There was a question answer and personal interaction sessions with him after his speech.

Mr Jacob Ravibalan, Mr Ramesh Kumar Balakrishanan, Mr Karthick from UKTNCC, Mrs Kamala Sekar – UK Trade & INVESTMENT Head, Mr Philip Apraham, Mr George, Mr Sujit, and Mr Satheesh and more than 80 business peoples attended this meeting from different sector. Tea/ Coffee and refreshments served end of the section.
